I have a MF3165 with a Continental gas engine. It has the power steering pump with the resivour on top (A-544443M91). I think it got water in the fluid and froze because one of the gears in that pumps the fluid cracked in half. I cannot find a used pump or the gears. I have been looking for years. A new pump is about $600. I can get one from a diesel (523090M91) for about half that. Can I use a diesel pump? I'm sure I would need new lines but it has to be cheaper than $600. The tractor is basically useless without the power steering. The loader is just too heavy.

Thank you!

Dave

Diesel PS pump will not fit G-176 Continental, Perkins gear train totaly different.

Ok so next question.....Can I just run lines back to the hydraulic pump for the loader and use that system? Would I need to put some sort of flow restrictor in place to regulate pressure?

IF loader valve is supplied from a constant running pump like a front mount by crankshaft pulley you could use a flow divider valve to feed both loader and PS system, but loader will be slower to lift. A pressure relief valve would be needed too as PS uses lower setting. Don't try three point scotch yoke pump as pump shuts down with lift linkage when lift arms are up.
