MF 35 lift problem

Have a problem with my MF35. I had a bad PTO clutch.. Had to engage it with the engine off (diesel) but the lift was working. Had one last little mowing job (1/3 acre) to do before replacing the clutch and the lift stopped working. Replaced the dual clutch and the PTO works fine but the lift picks up the mower only a couple of inches off the ground and will hold there.....I think the pump is working or it wouldn't pick up at all. Going to flush the system as suggested with diesel and change the fluid. Will regular tractor hydraulic fluid work for this? Do I leave the filter on while running it with diesel and then take it off to clean/replace? Thanks for any help you can offer....Joe.

I wouldn't flush it with just diesel in it (I'd mix it with some hydraulic oil), you can leave the drain plug out, and flush it out with some diesel (without running it). A new filter, and some universal tractor transmission/hydraulic oil (make sure the oil is for older tractors, not newer tractors).
