MF35 Utility (gas)
Hi, I'm the new owner of a MF 35 Utility (gas) with front end loader and flail mower, and I have a few questions.

1. I need some manuals. Is documentation for the regular MF35 the same? I'd like to read about basic operation and regular service (ie checking fluids).
2. Is there a differential lock?
3. How do I remove the battery? It seems the hood is seriously in the way and I haven't figured out how to remove the hood. The hood seems to be part of the dash where the guages are. The tractor is parked about 10 miles away and I have no way to charge the battery there -- I need to bring it home.
4. Can you tell me any more about the 35 Utility? Is the gas engine the Continental engine? Afaik it was made in the early 60's and has 30+ PTO HP.

Thanks for the help.

Hi,

I highly recommend that you find an MF/AGCO dealer and order a Parts, Service, and Owners manual. The will cost you less that $100, and they are priceless. Way better than any other manuals on the market. If you remove the air breather pipe sticking out from the hood, the hood should tip forward. If it has a diff lock, it should have some sort of pedal on the right side of the tractor, directly behind the brake pedal. Once you get it home, if you don't drive it, I would change all the fluids. I high/strongly recommend that you use MF/AGCO Permatran in the diff/tranny. It may be a bit pricey compared to others like walmart, but their is a reason the walmart stuff is so cheap - you get what you pay for.

Anything else, feel free to ask.

Oh yeah, pics please.

Take care,

Will

Thanks. Still haven't figured out how to get the hood open but I only spent a few minutes there today taking pictures. The first picture is of the tractor itself.

Second shows the pedals on the right side. I don't think there's a differential lock.

Third and fourth pics are of a hydraulic connector near the rear. I assume that's for operating a remote cylinder but am I restricted to single-action cylinder only? I only see one connector. Is one lever for 3-pt and one for the remote cylinder?

Thanks again for the help.

Bob

i dont think you have a diff lock, they are usually on the rh foot plate back near the diff. we didnt get this model in AUS but it looks a **** of a lot like the 35 we did get. you are going to have some serious fun getting the bonnet off. it tips forward, and i see you have a loader in the way. your best option is to undo the 2 securing bolts at the bottom of the bonnet at the front, then lift the whole thing off. take a friend.... the levers on RH side are 3pl (inner one) and draft (outer). push the 3pl lever all the way back and you get constant pump. this is sometimes used so remotes etc work. it depends on how the remoes are plumbed. i have seen so many different systems on these things i stopped trying to know them all, trial and error im afraid.

Ok first off that's an Industrial 35. The books will be different in certain respects for it vs a regular ag-35. Get all the info off of the data plate ,including where it was built before you go to the dealer. Might check on eBay also. Big Dean is the MF Guru.Big Dean web Site
