Now that the 390 has been around for a little bit I have found out a few things about it. First off it is still smoking badly due to blowby. Bummer but not the end of creation. It runs really well and has been pulling a 15 foot cut Woods Batwing mower around this week probably about 10 hours so far. I've been reclaiming a hayfield from a dillapidated state (cutting the weeds down so it can be sprayed) and it has done well. The weeds have been really thick and it's a strain on it but it's not stalled on me once yet regardless of how thick it got.
It's hard to steer with the diff lock on. I have a really steep backside to my riding arena and have not found a safe way to cut it yet. I figured I could back up the hill in 4wheel drive with the bushhog on there and get close to the top. Well not really. About 2/3 of the way up all 4 wheels were spinning. I was bummed but not really surprised. It is impossible to side cut it. Nothing can stay straight with a mower attached. In fact I'm pretty lucky not to have flipped anything during my few foolish attempts at it. I tried again tonight but the rear of the tractor slid downhill even though I was steering up. If anyone has any suggestions I am open to them.
So far I am happy with it except for the blowby. Perhaps I'll get a chance to change out the cylinder liners this winter. And of course paint it. Which leads me to the next question. What is the actual color for this model? Anyone know the PPG paint code for it? The orange and the dark gray for the chassis is what I'm looking for. Thanks.
