MF 400 series

Afternoon Gents:

So, has anyone had any problems with their 400 series MF? I find the plainess of the 400 series very attractive as I am mostly a no frills kind of guy. I know that the 431/451/461 are a little tight as far as comfort goes for me, but I think that the 471 has more room. It seems that a 2WD 471 might be in my price range.

Any insight is much appreciated!

I haven't heard of any problems. This is an updated very old platform and should have all of the bugs worked out. My cousin about a half mile down the road bought a 491 about 6 months ago and he said that he hasn't heard of anything either.

Thanks JerryG...your cousin's experience is encouraging. I guess its sort of like the old saying "no news is good news".

491 with cab, 1070 loader, and 4wd bought in feb of '05. No problems - it is what I wanted it to be - a heavy basic farm tractor for the making and moving of 6x6 bales and pasture maintance. It was ,by far, the best deal in the 90-100 hp utility tractor class in my area.

Cajun, Cajun, Cajun, you and I both know your going to buy the BIG RED MACHINE . I can just tell..... Don't wait to long and let any good deals pass you by...not trying to pressure you.

You Know what I got, take delivery in 1st week in FEB. Go look at the 471 and drive it, see if you like it...

Also look at what I saw at the dealers lot when I was there..
"Low Profile" MF 492 open station man o' man, you would think they made it specially for Shaqualle O'Neal....this open station was huge, big enough for Shaq's 23inch shoes with room to spare... If your dealer doesn't have one, get the MF 400 series Tractor Brochure on pg 9 there it is BIG AS DAY.
You might even see it on the MF web site under 400 series brochure...

I know its just a matter of time now, the hook is firmly set, small adjustment on drag, and reel you in............................
