I have been browsing TBN for a while now, but this is my first post. I know a guy who deals in used tractors and parts who has a MF 50 Diesel that runs great with no leaks and good tires. He is asking $3500 for it including a used bush hog. Does this seem reasonable. ALso I don't know a lot about this tractor. Does it have a factory 3 point hitch? I could ask the guy, but I would like to a little before I talk to him. I have 24 acres and plan on using to grade my gravel drive and bush hog about 8 of the acres. Sorry for the long post.

Is it gas or diesel? Does it have a Muti-Power transmission? Yes the 3-Point is factory. Either way, in good shape it should bring about that.

the other thing is if it is hudrulic or manual trans this will help when you have to do repairs keep my E-Mail address handy and if you get any problems let me know I have all the Micro fiche on all the MF tractors up to about 1990 or so I rebuild tractors so if this will take some of the worry out for you I will be glad to help you also that tractor should have the 4 cyl perkins desiel engine I have the same one in my MF 30 back hoe it will not burn over 5gal of fuel in one full days use so it is a very good tractor for what you want Good luck and happy tractoring

I just traded in a MF50 gas with a loader on a NH 2120. One of the things the dealer looked for was if the multipower transmission still worked. Mine didn't and I got about $4000 for a tradein. I was also buying a Valby chipper and a 12' dump trailer so I'm sure that helped him fudge up the tradein allowance. The massey was a good tractor but I needed 4wd and something a little newer. If something goes wrong, I won't mind putting money into the 2120, but I would have hated sinking too. much into the older massey.

The MF50 is a tough old bird. My cousin still has the one I broke land with 40 years ago.

At $3500 you probably won't loose anything if you decide to upgrade later. If it's in decent mechanical shape it'll be worth the same amount years from now. Besides, if you get a newer piece with PS and more creature comforts later, you'll think you've gone to heaven /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Here's a link to lots of info on the 50.

One last word, when you get the tranny locked in 1st gear (and you will) don't freak out. Check Big Dean's site or email me for an easy fix.

Good Luck!!
