MF 500 series

My brother was considering a MF 543 to replace an old Case that we use on my Dad's farm in the mountains. I checked with a local dealership and they told me that MF plans to replace the 500 series later this summer. He said that the 533 and 543 that he has in stock are the last that he will be able to get. No more are available to be shipped.

I checked in the TBN archives, but didn't see anything on the planned replacement for the 500 series. Has anyone heard of this?

The 2600 Series will be coming later this summer. They will eventually replace the 533, 543 and 563. They will have hp ratings of 30 hp-2605, 40 hp-2615, and 52 hp-2625. Dealers should be getting more info in the next month or so. The hoods will look like 3600 Series and the back ends like 400/500 Series.

Yes, the smaller 500 series models are bering discontinued. I know that the 533 and 543 are no longer being made. This may include the 563 but I am not certain. I just bought a 533 in order to get one of these inexpensive "Real" tractors before they are gone.

The 3600 series will be out soon. Interestingly, these will have Finnish made Shisu engines rather than Perkins.

Time will tell.

The 3600 series are already out, our local dealer has 2 of them, one cab & one platform. The SISU engines are a proven engine, no worries about them.

I can't wait to see the 2600 series.

3600 SERIES, The tractors are nice but I think the cabs are not as good as JD 5000 series by far noise level and comfort. THEY ARE ALSO VERY PRICEY compared to the new 5603 JD, I believe JD is going to offer more bang for your dollar in the new 5003 series and give the competition a run for their money in a tractor made in the U.S. with the latest J.D. technology.

3600 Series should be pricier compared to 5x03 Series JD because the 5x03 JD is more similar to MF's 500 (and soon to be 2600) Series. The 3600 Series MF's are marketed DIRECTLY against JD's 5x25 Series. And just because JD says the 5000's are built in the U.S. doesn't necessarily mean so. Only the 5x25 series are ASSEMBLED in U.S. of mostly foreign parts. All other 5000 Series are built in Mexico or India.

The 3600 tractors are very nice tractors and the reason they cost more is because they offer more equipment which the 400/500 Series did not (ie. push button 4wd, diff. lock, nicer cab). Plus you get the 3 cylinder SISU, which is a very fuel efficient, long lasting engine.

Do you know anyone who owns one? I drove one at the daelership a 3625 with a cab and power shuttle and liked everything accept the whistle noise at around 1700 rpm in the cab that sounded like it was coming from the engine I presume. Thanks

Turbo maybe?

Could be the turbo, all three models have the turbo'ed diesel with the 3645 being intercooled as well. Haven't driven one yet. Waiting for the dealer to get one in, they're saying early August and that one's already been sold (3635).
