MF 6495 Tractor Help with 3pt Linkage controls

My neighbour has just purchased a secondhand 2005 model MF 6495 tractor, we can find the 3pt linkage operating lever, but can't get it activated - we note a number of switches and dial adjustments for operating speed of lift etc, but what it the secret for getting the arms to lift and lower? Anyone with experience with this machine can help? Thanks GH

First guess: You have the draft control lever somewhere other than the furthest up (out of use) position. When Draft control is in effect the position control level sometimes does not do much if anything depending on the circumstances, load, etc. Do you have an operator's manual?
You do have two distinct levers -- one for position control and one for draft control, right ?
