MF-65 Stuck in Reverse

Just got home from our camp. Had some good tractor time with running the brush hog & discing up some fields. I put the tractor in reverse & now it wont come out of reverse. I can shift it into high & low gear but it wont come out of reverse. I drove the tractor to level ground & tried rocking back & forth to ease it out but nothing. There was no loud noises or anything unusaual prior it getting stuck. Anyone have any ideas ? Was going to take off the shifter plate but the steering colum is connected to it. I am going to need some time to look at it. Any help ? Thanks John.

Do you have the big filler port on top of the transmission. Remove the plug and see if you can pry a gear with a big screw driver through that hole.

Will happen when shifting too fast when coming out of 1st and going over to 2-3 shift rail. 1st-reverse rail overshoots neutral detent, goes into reverse but shift lever will be in 2-3 rail groove already. Remove oil fill cap as Jerry said, shift hi-lo to neutral to relieve any gear tension, use large screwdriver or bar to move 1st-reverse gear forward to neutral. When shift lever will cross over again you have it fixed. Just slow down when shifting to other rail to prevent, remember it aint a HURST.

Yeh common on the 135/ 35 as well
I have had to get ours out of it a couple of times, you need to get the large gear to move forwards or back depending on which way its gone, It may help if you jack a rear wheel slightly as well so it can turn
The other way to prevent as well as slowing the gear change is to press down on the gear stick when shifting as lifting it will alllow the detents to pop out and two gears to get selected
