Good morning all,
I recently purchased an awesome 1957 MF 65 C. While testing the tractor prior to purchasing I noticed the fan belt was almost shot. During transport onto the flat bed, the belt broke, but luckily enough it had a spare one with it. (should have known it was a pain to replace then)

Anyway the tractor has a front mounted hydraulic pump mounted for a loader. There is a small shaft that runs through to the front pump, so I can not get the belt around the crank without removing that. I started to remove the front pump, and that is moved out of the way. I now have just a shaft sticking out of the front. I thought it would be easy to pull out (spline) or perhaps unscrew, but it doesn't pull out and when i try to unscrew it, the crank moves too. I am sure that someone has figured this out already, so figured id ask the experts. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!

There should be a drive hub bolted to the crank pulley, that the splined shaft goes in to. More than likely, there are 4 bolts holding it on. Remove those 4 bolts, slide the hub & shaft far enough ahead to slip the belt in. Put the belt on, and adjusted making sure it is the right one, before bolting the drive hub back on. No use having to go through half the procedure, if it's the wrong belt.

Not sure how much room you have to work with, with the fan shroud. It may also need to be removed, or even the whole front cowl, to give you room to work.

Much easier to remove all of that to give you room to work, rather than barely having room, and having a wrench slip, and damage the radiator core. If that's the original radiator, it's probably pretty fragile, and easily damaged.

If this is the case, it might be a good idea to get you some never-seize if you don't already, and coat the bolts holding the drive hub on. You never know when you'll need to get back in there sometime down the road.

Another thought would be to use a "link belt" instead of the conventional vee belt. These are easy to install and the sizes are governed by the number of links used to form the belt. They cost a little more money but the pay back is good in time saved and minimal damage.
