I just bought a 7' MF sickle mower. It's a belt drive type, and I believe the head is the welded on this one. So I think it would be a model 41???? The model # is worn off the plate but the SN# 238051064 and I was able to get a # off of one of the guards. It's 470353M1.

Does anyone know where I can buy guards for this mower??

Thanks,

Scott

Have you tried Tractor Supply (or an equivalent farm supply store)? They have several flavors of single and double toothed stone guards. Take an old one along and match it up.

No I haven't but I looked online at what TSC had. None of them where listed as replacements for the MF guards. Does it matter if they are listed as a replacement as long as they are the same shape and bolt holes line up?

I have a MF31 sicklebar. Got the guards/ledger plate assemblies at Tractor Supply as well as sickle sections and nuts/bolts for the sections (which I refer over rivets).

Here're some photos of the MF41 head

Just went to TSC and they don't carry the doubles for MF anymore, Just the singles. Can I use single guards in place of doubles?

Well the single guards from TSC won't work either. They fit but the knives don't come close to the cutting edge.

I called a few other farm equipment places locally and they didn't have them.

So I call 2 different MF dealers and they can't get any aftermarket guards for this mower anymore. They can only get MF brand and one shop wanted $40 per guard and the other wants $50.

I also call sickleservice.com and they can't get them either.

Is this what I'm going to have to buy for this mower or is there some other place to get these hard to find guards?

Another option--use the guards you have and replace the ledger plates.

Sorry, but I'm new to sickle mowers.

What's the ledger plates??

The ledger is the removable cutting plate on the guard. In this photo, left to right, sickle section, ledger plate, rock guard
