Tractor
mf 175
I have a MF 175, I've only had the tractor a short time. multi-power was removed before I got it. 3hi 3 low. when I press the clutch trans gears keep turning I adjusted it as far as I can. once it's in gear there is no slipping.

thanks for any help or suggestions

Clutch disc "froze" to flywheel.....Can be result of rust, oil on clutch facing, or a number of possibilities.

With it in gear can you stop the tractor by pushing in the clutch? If not I agree it is probably the clutch frozen to flywheel or pressure plate.
If you can stop the tractor in gear by pushing the clutch in, it may be the clutch lining has came off and is stacked up making it too thick, or the pressure plate springs have twisted sideways and will not allow it to release...
Did this suddenly happen or gradually get worse? KennyV

yep.. I agree with the others.. sounds like classic stuck clutch.. FWJ hit the usualy culprets.

block the clutch overnight and see if that helps.. you can also try to bump it over in high gear. with clutch blocked and brakes locked a few times to pop it loose if setting blocked don't help.

Thanks for your response's. I've adj. the clutch as far as I can and can get it in gear with little grinding, it won't move till I let out on the clutch. the wheels shimmy abit (more than they should). I pulled the plate off under the bellhouse and found a smooth rod about 3 inches long the diameter of a pencil. one end has a hole drilled in to it and is broke right at the hole. looks like i'm going to be spliting the tractor. any info on the small rod would be helpful

thanks

Well....That explains why the clutch doesn't work.

Time to split the tractor...... :(

That's MOST of one of the three clutch release lever pivot pins. Parts manual refers to it as 5/16" X 2-11/16" long. The hole WAS where the retainer went through.

Clutch assembly will need to be disassembled to replace. Time for a new clutch while you're at it.

You're probably right. Splitting a tractor is like getting bucked off a horse... It's not quite so scary after you've done it a time or two.

Be sure to disconnect everything between the front and back before you try to split it. There's nothing like trying to hold the two halves of a tractor together while you undo that last wire that you forgot.

Keep us posted on your progress. As others have said, replace what you can while you're in there.

That may be but it still hurts.:)
