Hi all. I am new to the forum but have owned my GC2600 for about 9 months now. I am just at the point of needing the 50hr service carried out. Just got a quote from my dealer for $575 plus tax. This was broken down as $175 in parts and the rest in labor. I've nothing to compare this to as I'm a first time tractor owner but this does seem a little high to me. Is this a reasonable cost for this work ? Thanks for your help.

Are you dropping the unit at the dealer?

Yes, quote was on the understanding I would trailer the machine to the dealer. Pick up and delivery was going to be an additional $65 plus tax.

Thanks.

I usually charge around $375 to $400 on a 50 hr complete service. That includes all oil changes and filters, greasing, and inspection for any problems that might be there. and a wash.

Thanks for the reply Jeremy. Too bad (for me) that you are in TX. I'm reasonably accomplished with a set of wrenches I think I am going to give this a go myself. Just filter and fluid changes from what I see in the service schedule.

Yes you can do it yourself. Just make sure you change all fluids hydu, oil ect and keep a good record of it. I do encourage my customers to let me do the first 50 hr service just so there is a dealer record of it in case you ever have any warranty issues with it, it is documented that is was done on time. Make sure you use MF hydr. oil but the engine oil can be delo or rotela.

We here in the MF forum, always encourage everyone to do their own service, whenever possible.

The 50hr. is a good opportunity to get to know your tractor, and double check everything on the pre-delivery checklist, to see what was missed.

I also suggest you use the search feature, and read some of the GC threads here, to learn more about doing the 50 hr.

If you have any questions, people are always here to help.

The 50 hr maintenance is not hard at all. Takes basic tools and some time.

Ditto on doing it yourself, :2cents:. Just follow the owners manual for info. The $$ you save, buy yourself a MF repair manual and a cordless grease gun, :drink:. B.T.W. , welcome to TBN, and also F.Y.I. I used MF filters and Amsoil Synthetic. Good luck regardless how you decide to get your 50 hour service performed. KC

Well thought I would just post that I did the service my self and aside from the challenge of finding a big enough container to drain the hydraulic oil in to there were no major problems. I did rupture the screen of the hydraulic suction filter while trying to clean it, so I replaced it with a new part. The dealer had one in stock and it was only $23 so wasn't a big deal.
