Well, Mother Nature decided to take down a 60ft Spruce tree a couple weeks ago with a strong wind storm. The good news was that it fell away from the house, must have had something to do with me standing on the roots as it tipped!
After giving it some time to dry out I took to it with the chain saw, anticipating a LOT of cutting. Then I realized I could just leave the branches big and haul them off with a chain. Of course I had to cut the trunks into smaller pieces. Its still a work in progress but I thought I post some pics of what this little tractor can do to a BIG tree.

About half-way through the upper portion now. Really impressed with how strong the 2310 pulls, I hauled off several sections that had to weigh 400-500 lbs, plus digging in the dirt as they went along. Just had to go from 2wd to 4wd and the it didn't even break a sweat.

Just stand that thing up, hang a back board a play some hoops!! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

How is your back? I know that is hard work /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif. I took down 17 pines one year. Now I live on previous farm land. Not tree one, yet! But there will never be another pine on my land while I'm alive.

These little tractors are impressive with what they can do!

Good work.

Now you need my 1085 Massey and the air conditioned cab for "no sweat". Just chain to the drawbar, fire up the 318 Perkins, put the MultiPower in low and the main trans in 2nd. Let out the clutch and when the slack comes out of the chain, that stump and trunk goes for a ride. If you need it, you can borrow it. Bring a truck though, it weighs 10K. pounds. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

17 Pines, that's impressive. I think my record was 5 or 6 trees last year, mostly Ash-great for burning. I didn't feel it right away, but my back is killing me!, Instead of a backboard I was thinking of making a rustic sitting bench out of the nice straight part that's left.

I Need to borrow that Big MF 1085 from Daryl! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

All that power sounds great, but A/C? Now that's just not right...too comfortable. Besides it takes all the fun out of "discovering" a hidden wasp nest! /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Any time you have a cab tractor, it had better have air conditioning. They turn into an oven in the summer. I gave up on open station tractors years ago. It had to do with getting dirty as the fields I was in, getting a sunburn (red neck and arms), feeling like I got run over by an asphalt roller after 8 hours and not having a cold drink at my side.

Of course with a cab, you better watch out driving around trees and such. It can be real costly real quick. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
