mf1145 lurching/clanking rear end

Hi all,

well, my new/old tractor is lurching every 5 seconds or so accompanied by a clank from rear end. It happens in all gears, forward and reverse. It is a 4wd compact from 1991. This symptom has just begun. When I test drove it last week before purchase it didn't seem to happen of course. Just received service manual from agco but so far not helping.

ANY ideas would be most welcome - The shop is 2 hours away. This is my first tractor so I'm pretty clueless to be honest. BUT, I honestly love this tractor enough that my wife is already getting a wee bit jealous. I wouldn't mind so much if I could get her fixed... the Massey, that is.

Good Afternoon Dan,
Sorry to hear that your havin problems with your new purchase !

Being a geared tractor it sounds like your missing a tooth on one of your transmission gears, thats just a guess. If your adventuresome you could pull the cover plate off of the transmission and take a look in there. The MF1145 is not all that much different than my MF 1040 size wise.

Since you just bought it I would be more inclined to take it back to the dealer and just have him fix it before gettin too involved in the repair myself JMO !

Since you just bought it, I would hope the dealer would take care of it, without much if any cost to you.
