Im looking for info for using an alternative gasket on an oil pan for a perkins gas as opposed to the cork one. I have an oil leak from the weep hole and I wanted to replace the gasket before i go crazy doing anything else and i was just looking for something superior to cork.

What is it that has you convinced your leak is due to a cork gasket?

What kind of oil is coming out of the weep hole--engine or transmission or both?
Could be a leaking rear main crankshaft seal or a transmission shaft seal. If so you'll have to split the tractor to fix that leak.

Good luck.

Oh i dont necessarily think its leaking because its a cork gasket. The source of the leak is either crank seal or the oil pan gasket. Oil pan gasket is just easy to go after first and i figured while im at it to replace the cork with something better if i can. I just know that cork tends to seep oil over time, altho i definitely have more of a leak than a seep.

Just "blowin' smoke" here pal so don't take it personal. If your cork gasket were any part of your leak, the oil would be running down the outside of the pan, not out the weep hole. If the pan seal is the source of the leak, it's probably the rubber strip, not the cork. Chances are, the new gaskets aren't cork any more anyway.
As for the pan gasket being easier to change than the crank seal? I guess that too is a matter of opinion. If it were mine, I'd go for the seal first. That way I could look at the clutch while it's on the table. Probably needs at least good cleaning by now.
