Hello to all. I am hoping someone can help with my problem. I have a 2003 1428V that suddenly will not start. It was running fine a couple of weeks ago. Now I can't get it to start. Side note that this little tractor has worked great. It was partially submerged back at the first of May with the floods here in TN. As soon as the water went down I checked everythign and it fired right up and I moved it to higher ground before the next round of flooding came. It has started and worked great up until this last week.
When I finished mowing I parked it, and just as I shut it off, the oil light did come on. I checked the oil and it was low so I filled it back up. That is the only thing out of the ordinary that happened. One of the local mechanics was supposed to come out and look at it but I haven't heard from him since we talked. I had also called the Massey Dealer and their first reaction was that the glow plugs had gone out. I only have about 650 hours on it and find it hard to believe that just shutting it down would cause the glow plugs to fail. I really hate to have to load it on a trailer to take to the dealer since they are over an hour away and I have plenty of experience with working on my own vehicles but have never messed with a deisel so I am reaching for any help I can find.
It is getting fuel and turns over without any problem; it is acting like the safety switch on the seat is keeping it from starting but I bypassed that over a year ago when I put a suspension seat on it, to save my back. I have searched through the service manual and only find a safety relay and the PTO switch as the two other electrical components in the circuit. I can hear the engine shut down solenoid operating when I turn the key off. I am at a complete loss here. What am I missing? Has anyone got any experience or helpful ideas for troubleshooting this?
