MF165 Hydraulics Knocking niose

When i have the linkage in transport position it makes a loud knocking noise. Is this normal or is there somthing wrong? or is it the relief valve?

Your linkage may need to be adjusted. It sounds like you're blowing off the relief. Do you have a shop manual for the adjustment procedure? Does it go away as you come down from the transport position?

G'day it will be your relief valve going off when you are in transport you are blocking off the circuit and the pump is still driving a bugger of an idea just leave the lever in up and not in transport

Sounds like you're over maxing the lift arm travel out. Only actuate the lift handle as much as the lift arms will respond, no more.

Thanks for that info. Have been backing off the position lever when i hear the sound. Will have a look in adjustments in my manual.

You may want to check the support pins that carry the pump in the center housing. My uncle had one break on his, and said it sounded like a rod knocking.

Under a no-load situation, it probaby won't make any noise, but if up against pressure, the pump may try to rotate in the housing, causing the knocking noise.

Yes I do have a manual but its useless. Is it an easy adjustment or not?

G'day unfortunately it is not an easy adj as you have to take the top off the final drive and do your adj then and not something to try without a manual if you know someone with a genuine manual you can look at would be the best thing, i would lift the linkage and mark the quadrant where the lever is just before it makes the knocking noise and leave it at that
