MF231 sealed beam headlight rubber seal

i have 231 MF with the round 12V sealed beam headlights. they have a rubber seal which slips around the opening in the grill for the light. it also keeps the light supported in the opening and i assume must keep some of the water out as well. i broke both headlights and lost one of the seals. found the lights but so far no luck with the rubber seal. parts houses having trouble locating part number. the rubber seal is approx 12-14" long and fits around the light.

I think the key to finding a replacement is not looking at 231 models, but other models with like type headlights. I was on AGCO Parts Books and using the "browse books" folder I looked at new models close to the 231 design and found some seal part numbers. I searched the 231 folder and found nothing on the headlights which I found odd. That seal was probably made to fit a few different models. Trick is to find which one will work with yours. I could have posted a snippet of one that listed a seal, but it might not be yours. It may requires some time digging and sifting thru the different models, but I beleive you will find what you seek. -kid

Try searching in agcopartsbooks.com - accessories massey ferguson - 100/200/1000 ag accesories go down to lighting equipment 677554. Does this look like the system. They all use the same lamp retainer 1026697M1. It makes no mention of the 231 tractor that I saw. I searched the 231 tractor under hood and grill and saw the place for the lamps but they were not included in that breakdown. The had ones in the flattop fenders and safety fenders but not the grill.
