Ok, so I admit this is probably a dumb question, but I was wondering what actually goes into the injector pump where the cap with the T-handle unscrews. I'm working on my dad's old MF235 and noticed there's no fluid inside yet it starts right up. Just want to make sure I don't screw up something by running it dry.

I think you are referring to the engine crankcase filler cap at the front of the pump. It does look related to the pump but i think its location was a simple engineering design to utilize a needed cap for access to the bolts for r and r of the injector pump and not have to add yet another hole in the block for oil fill. But you might not be looking at that at all and I appoligize for assuming.

Yup, thats your oil fill cap for the engine, just check the oil level at the dipstick and your good to go.
