I'm replacing my power steering cylinders on a MF 240. The originals had part # 3401285M93. The replacements have part # 3774728M91. The difference is the new cylinders have a larger taper on the tie rod end (0.715") and the originals have smaller taper on tie rod ends (0.570"). The new ones also have larger ports for the hose connections. They are both the same length and diameter. The new ones are for models with hydrostatic steering and the original are just for hydraulic power steering (according to info on the net).
OK, my question: After having new hoses made to accommodate the larger ports and then having the steering arms machined to accommodate the larger tie rod tapers, will the new hydrostatic cylinders work with the older hydraulic power steering system? I have found 2 parts suppliers on the net that list these newer cylinders saying they work on both systems, but hopefully someone here can verify it.
