Hello TBN MF! I recently purchased an older MF30 industrial tractor that had been sitting for a few years and was in need of some attention. Overall the tractor looked to be in pretty good condition, and doesn't appear to have been badly abused over the years. The previous owner was a really great guy to deal with, and had been trying for some time to sell his old reliable tractor, no longer having a need for it.
I’m relatively new to tractors, I didn’t grow up on a farm, but I have used few from time to time. My only real experience is with my newer Kubota BX25D model (which I absolutely love), but with our current plans, I need a second tractor. I wasn't able to find a ton of info about this tractor when looking on the web, so thought I’d share my venture as I clean it up, and prepare this tractor for the next chapter of its life
Loaded our new tractor up and headed home. Turns out the tires were partly loaded, plus chains, and cab, it was heavier than expected. We took it slow and I know my truck and trailer is well maintained so wasn’t too concerned but will need a heavier trailer next time. With a little research I figured out this tractor has the Perkins AG4-212 gas engine. The zenith carb was a model 267 (13337E) and was leaking fuel pretty bad and tractor didn’t run too great when loading onto trailer. Once home and in my shop I tore the carb off and ordered rebuild kit with replacement float. Rebuild was simple, once done (and choke cable actually connected onto carb...), new fuel hose, and filter screen in sediment bowl this old girl started up and purr’d like it just came off the assembly line! I cleaned out the air intake and replaced the old 1986 air filter. Also gave her an oil change.
Someone added what appears to be a custom quick‘er change system, which I’d like to change to new style skidsteer quick attach this spring. nice bonus, the previous owner had recently installed a new battery
