After many years of use my engine started to knock so I did an in frame overhaul, sent the head out and all went well, except now I have an oil leak.
I have had the 2 piece oil pan off several times thinking that I didn't get the cork seal in right. Last time I used rtv. I'm now thinking that maybe it is the rear main seal and I'll have to split the tractor. The oil leaks out from the hole on the bottom that has the cotter pin in it to keep it clear. The engine is the Perkins non direct injection. Anybody run into this before ? Is there an easy way to tell if it is the rear main? Any secret to getting that cork gasket to seat properly.

G'day and welcome to TBN i think your problem lays with the rear main but can't remember if yours runs a lip seal or a rope seal if it is rope it may be poss to do without splitting tractor i will check at work tomm and get back to you. Good luck:)

G'day again I had a look at work today and you should have a rope seal you can replace them without splitting the tractor:D. Drop the sump and back off all the main bearings this will allow the crank to drop down slightly take the rear cap right off and you will see the seal in the bottom half of the cap there is the same in the top, there used tio be a tool avail called a 'sneaky pete' that you could use to pull the top half out and also to pull the new one through it is just a matter of fitting the bottom half then and torqueing it all up and screwing the sump back on. Good luck:)
