I am considering buying a 1964 Massey Ferguson 65: The PTO does not always engage when the engine is running. This is a "live" PTO with the dual clutch. Adjusting the clutch pedal linkage did not seem to help. When I tried it yesterday it did engage with a little bit of grinding.
Is this likely to be difficult or expensive to fix? At this time my only need for the PTO is to drive a 3ph snow blower, would it be a problem to just engage the PTO before starting when blowing snow? (it gets very cold here, I imagine the procedure would be to warm up the engine, then shut it down to engage the PTO&blower).
