MFWA vs 4WD on Michelin spec sheet

Any idea why the different designations for 4WD tractors at this link: http://www.michelinag.com/agx/en-US/products/products_application_grid.jsp

or what do they mean by MFWA? Thanks.

It doesn't have to be in 4wd all the time to be called it but the biggest criteria is the tire sizes. MFD tractors have two different sized tires while the articulated tractors and trucks and SUV's have the same size tires. That is the biggest difference. As for marketing, a lot of tractor companies are trying to make compacts more understandable to their clients. By associating the terminology of cars and trucks to the tractors it allows the consumers to understand it better. However, if you have been around machinery your whole life which usually means the people buying 50hp tractors and up, then they tend to understand the traditional terms and the tractors are marketed that way. MFWD, MFWA, FWA all mean the same thing. There is even HFWA. H is for Hydraulic, M is for Mechanical (never heard it called Manual but it might be in some places).

Thanks but that doesn't explain why Michelin does'nt have tires designated for 4WD tractors under these headings:

Turf, Narrow or Specialty / Vegetables, Orchards or Vinyards;

but they do for MFWA tractors. Any ideas?
