I spray my trailers with FF before the winter haven't had mice or rust yet ,But I have two barn cats......

I replaced the lights on my trailer with a "boxed" type,,

After the led light assemblies are popped into the holes, there is basically no way for a mouse to get in,,,

Actually, I have been wondering if I should have drilled drain holes??

2CB9743C-20C9-47C6-8ED4-DD2AA4A624C4.jpegMine has very similar boxed tail lights. Some how mice were getting in, building nests and eating the wires. I noticed yours has LEDs. I just replaced one of mine with ab LED unit. It cost $21 but should last much longer. All my lighting is sealed units, you can稚 replace the light bulbs, the entire thing pops out. You can kind of see my lights in the pic.

If I were gonna fill the box, I would not use steel wool, it would rust,, and make a mess,,

You can not buy that much "Chore Boy" copper wool,, without the police knocking on your door!! -

I have had just regular steel wool in the boxes for about three years. I expected a rusty mess but was surprised, they were just a little rusty.

My biggest problem is the smallest tractor engine. The mice continue to make nests inside the engine shroud which is there for the cooling air. When it gets blocked up the engine overheats quickly. Anyone try urinating under the machine? It works with other kinds of critters.

What is a bearing buddy? Never heard the term before. Every trailer I've ever had the bearings were in the hub.

As far as mice, lotsa luck. I haven't found anything that consistently works. Peppermint oil not at all, mothballs sometimes, but not always. Someone on a classic car forum suggested charcoal briquettes. Never tried them.
I suppose if you have a cavity they nest in the steel wool trick will work (as long as it doesn't short out the wiring), as well as to block entry points.
Best solution I've found is a cat.

Bearing Buddies are great!
They are an option used on virtually ALL salt water boat trailers, to help protect the wheel bearings from water intrusion.

If you do, be sure the holes are smaller than 1/4". If mice can get their head in, they can get the rest of their body in. The size of their skull determines the hole size needed.

Yep, if there's a hole the size of a pencil then a mouse can fit through it. The most common area in wire boxes is the loose space where the wires pass through.
