Moth balls and dryer sheets are a waste of time. Make sure there is no water for them and use traps inside and out. There is a company that offers a spray on product with a warranty but it is pricey and i don't recall the name. A Google search should provide if they're still in business.

how can you tell which moths are male?

You can smell the balls. Dryer sheets do work but they need to be new & scented.

water traps work.. a big plastic pail with a little water in it. no lid. They fall in and cannot climb out. they drown..but only if the pail contains the only water available to the rodents
