Good grief!

I fueled the tractor today and raised the hood to check the air screens.

Keep in mind I park out in the rain at the moment!

Well right up next to the fuel filler was a MOUSE NEST!

They had fled some time ago, but they had some really cushy stuff I have no idea where it came from and they CHEWED ALL the INSULATION off one fof the wires for the Fuel Gauge!!! it is literally bare wire.

They did a pretty good number on the plastic protector too!

I wonder how much Kioti will charge me for that unit!

I'm buying dryer sheets tomorrow!

GRRRRR!

Found the beginnings of a mouse nest in the trunk of my wifes car today.

Here is how I look at it: You can have cats or rats. We choose cats.

Seriously, we had a big problem. One night it was like a waterfall of rats coming out of the grainery. We got some cats, and the rodents are now at a minimum.

I just had two cars serviced (one kept in the garage all the time). Both had mice nests in them - one in the indoor blower unit, both in the air filters (intake sides).

The mechanic gave me the same suggestion - dryer sheets

re:MossflowerWoods--Do you recall the thread that CTMassey posted 09-26-2011----"mouse deterrant.....winter's coming"? In one of your posts on that thread you inquired about some preventative measures that you personally could utilize to help reduce and prevent rodent infestation? Well the "critters" are coming-no they're already here.:D Good Luck.

Good Luck - You will need it. I have tried everything. Dryer sheets, peppermint oil all that stuff. The only thing that works for me is cats and Decon. Put it right in the engine compartment where nothing else can get it. They will bring it there into their nest anyway.

I had dryer sheets ALL OVER my tractor, and 3 boxes of mothballs underneath. Mouse traps inside along the edge of the "cover-it" shed(with no bait, didnt want to "attract" any), just as a precaution. STILL found a nest under the hood between the battery and radiator. Opened the hood and those buggers wouldnt even move.....If I could have got my hand in there I couldve crushed them......I shop-vac'ed the nest, washed the tractor , and now have glue traps AND snap traps everywhere(with bait). I put traps in shoe boxes with holes around the tires and inside edge of the shed. I set-up the 5 gallon pail water trap. I've been leaving the hood open. So far only 2 kills, but I WILL NOT lose this battle.........
