Okay, so with everything else going on in the world, now there's a Florida family that has agreed to be the first family to be implanted with ADS VeriChips. These are small microchips that respond to a scanner by transmitting a unique ID number along with a small (128 bit) encrypted message. The idea is to use them for people with severe medical problems so emergency workers can get the ID number and check the patient's medical history through an "FDA compliant secure data storage site."
Accoording to Applied Digital Solutions, they have 2000 American kids who have requested to be chipped. Future plans for the chip are up to 1 megabyte of storage and GPS tracking.
Oh Boy! Where do I sign up? I just really want somebody to stick something under my skin that will let me be tracked by satellite! /w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif
Wait! I can already carry that medical information written down in my wallet and a small bracelet will alert the medical personnel. Gee, I guess I don't need that chip after all. Okay, I'll get out of line. Which one of you guys wants to take my place?
