Mid Busters

I'm looking to buy a mid buster.TSC has one for $100.00, it weighs 80 lbs. My dealer has one for $225.00, it weighs 143 lbs.I have a 3510. Most of it's use will be in sandy loam soil. The higher priced one seems to be better built. TSC has Kingkutter. My dealer has Dale Phillips. Any suggestions? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Mike - I'm not familiar with the term... "mid buster", but that is probably irrelevant to what I have to offer. Right now, scrap metal has once again become a worthwhile commodity. 2 years ago if you hauled something to the scrapyard - you were lucky if they even took it. Suddenly, the far east has been buying up every scrap they can get from the U.S and bumped up not only the market of scrap iron but have driven up the costs of the finished product. Most of the U.S. manufacturers have had to add a (hopefully temporary surcharge) to cover their expenses by as much as 10% per pound on the finished product. I, myself, usually opt to purchase a well built machine and has the strength to do the job for years to come. I don't know of TSC and am not making a derogatory statement against them. Good luck in your purchase Mike and remember why the heavier one costs more.

I have a Tractor Supply/King Cutter Middle Buster. I'm in upstate North Eastern N.Y. I use mine for drainage ditches. I've pulled it through rock, clay and tree roots that lift the front of the tractor off the ground ( with FEL..) when caught on a root.. Have not had any problem. When I bought the buster from TSC for $13 extra they had a subsoiler that you unbolted the shovel head & bolted on the sub soiler cutting blade for really tough earth. I've not needed that/no bends or twists in my TSC unit to date... /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Mike, you're probably right that the higher priced one is better built, but I had the TSC model myself. I only used it on a B7100 and a B2710 Kubotas myself, but also loaned it to a neighbor to use on a larger Massey to plow up a good sized area, and it held up just fine. And of course, the lighter weight made it easier for me to hook up, move around, etc.
