Mowing Mid Mount (Belly) Mower with Gear Shift Transmission

Sorry, I'm confused. So get a belly mower for your 790 and you get what you want, no? A gearshift and a belly mower.

My Deer store says they don't have a mower to fit that model plus mine doesn't have mid mount pto so it would be more costly to adapt.....even if I could find a mower deck to fit it.....which I haven't and I don't know enough about the older models and neither does my dealership to know what would fit it. I just haven't found anything in the used market.....but I'll admit I've been jumping around struggling!

I've been trying to buy a tractor with a 72" mower already installed in a gear shift model. But I'd go with HST in a heartbeat now that I know that some HST models have independent braking ability.....thanks jthibodeau89 !!!

I've never owned a HST so I didn't know they built them with individual brakes on the left like you said. I've talked to several dealers and no mention of this in a belly mower application.....they apparently only want to sell me new and the 3r series doesn't offer that! Do you have a belly mower on yours? How high is the maximum you can you raise the deck off the ground.....if you know?

I have a 72" belly mower that came with it, but have never mounted it. I would guess 6"-7" at the highest lift. I would have to mount it to see. I do my mowing with a 3pt JD 25A flail mower.

One warning on the mid 90s 4300, they roll sod on tight turns. There was a TSB if you complained and JD replaced the front axle. They got the turning ratio wrong. I think my outboard tire swings 70 degrees. I also run R1 Ag tires due to our hills. The R4 are too narrow track for my property. Already had a few down hill slides. No fun.....

I'm not sure specifically with the 790, but I know on one of the Kubotas I own that the mid mount mower is driven off a front mount pto, which is something like a front mount snow blower would drive. It just has a drive shaft off the front PTO back to the belly mower.
