Don't know what you mean by "went out", but the gage wheels should hardly ever touch the ground on a suspended deck.

Park on pavement, set your deck to the intended cutting height, then adjust the wheels an inch or so off the pavement.

They should last years and years. I have the old style (no zerks) and rough, rocky ground. My gage wheels are 5 years old and good for more. My blades on the other hand....

Just look it over on pavement. The deck mounting adjustments are such that the mower height indication (on the knob) becomes somewhat arbitrary.

My impression is that you are using the wheels too low, making the deck "float" on the ground. Some machines are designed to do that, ours isn't.

I tighten the little 10mm nut on the wheels every year or so, haven't lost one yet, but definitely found loose ones. There is always at least one loose nut on my tractor, if ya get my drift... :D

As rdsaustintex indicated, your gage wheels, when set properly will not touch the ground except when on uneven ground and then only temporarily.

You may have a problem with your deck height adjustment knob being set or marked improperly as this has been mentioned on previous posts. On some the "alignment mark" on the body of the tractor may have been improperly applied, so even though you are aligning the numbers on your knob with the "correct" number, it will be off. This happened to me and I simply went to a known position "TOP" and counted clicks from there to get the right number to align for the desired cutting height. Also, on a replacement knob, the numbers are on a decal and are not on permanently, so this may not have been applied properly.

I used the heck out of my BX2200 for over five years and my son in law is still using it with the original gage wheels.
