I had my new BX2370 delivered Thursday, and have been unable to use it until today (Saturday) due to work. Unfortunately, the owners manual did not come with it, and the place I purchased the tractor from mailed it to me Friday...I was hoping to get it today but did not. Anyhow, I have a FEL and 54" MMM. I wanted to try the MMM today on my yard, but could not get the mid mount to engage. The tractor has two sets of levers, one set engages the PTO, the other set allows me to select either rear PTO, rear and mid PTO and the last setting which is rear PTO only. I had the tractor in N, about 1/3 idle, I moved the set of levers from the off to the on position for the PTO (no problem doing this), then I tried to move the selector from rear PTO only to the last setting which would be for the MMM only. When I did this it "grinds" immediately, so I stopped the second I heard this. Am I doing something wrong, or what exactly should I do? Since I don't have the owners manual I want to make sure I am following the correct procedure. Unfortunately my dealer is only open until 12 on Saturday, so they are closed.

Hum-m-m-.....from memory... First off set the throttle as slow as possible. If your model has a clutch, use it to engage the mid-PTO slowly, then you can throttle up to the approx 2500 rpm range for mowing. I think that setting which is the most further back is the one to use. It may be marked "2500/960" which indicates the level to run the MMM or a PTO requiring 960. Hope this helps, until someone with a BX2370 chimes in.

You can shift it to the mid pto postion with the tractor shut off. Then start it up and see if the mower turns without engaging the pto clutch lever.

Mine has the HST, it is the setting all the way back. I'll try to get it in the proper setting with the tractor shut off, start it, then engage the PTO...the gear grinding scares me.

With the engine off and the PTO disengaged, the lever for the MMM will still not engage...it stays engaged for the rear PTO. I also checked the fluid level, which appears to be fine.

You might have to turn the pto shaft just a bit before it will engage with the motor off [ the gears aren't in line with each other] I have to sometimes shut mine off before I can engage the pto for the mower deck as well. It doesn't happen very often. BTW mine is a bx 2370 -1 .tractor.

Not sure I'm reading your 1st post correctly - but it looks like you engaged the PTO and _then_ tried to move the selector?

On my BX24 that wouldn't go so well. PTO OFF, select mid or rear or both, THEN engage the PTO.

I managed to get the mid PTO engaged this AM. I started it up, raised & lowered the deck a few times, put it in and out of 4WD, drove it around and after a few times it went in...I believe something may have been "binding" a bit. Thanks for all the help.

Glad to hear you got it working. Another thing to know is that sometimes the 4 x 4 lever is hard to shift out of. The best way is to move forward or reverse and pull up on the lever at the same time. You'll find that it shifts out of 4 x 4 way better this way.

Not related to your question, but check your front axle lube level. It seems BXs end up low after a little use.
