HIya,

Anyone have experience using a middle buster on the Black Land Prarrie soil (heavy, heavy black clay as in the the brick companies, dig it up, compact it and back it into bricks).

I am considering getting one to use around the property (drainage ditch work, ditches for pipe, etc). My concern is that it would just bounce along the surface and not engage.

Thanks

USTMD, I know EXACTLY the soil you mean. I used to live in Manor and am now over near Webberville. I also lived in Huntsville Alabama on red clay for several years.

As long as your tractor has enough horses to pull it, the middlebuster will dig.

I have seen some demo videos shot in Alabama on their red clay and the middlebuster, subsoiler and other various plows worked just fine. Trust me when I tell you that the red clay is harder than our black clay. I have dug in both by hand and I will take a field in Manor in August over a field in Huntsville anytime.

John,

Thanks for the feedback.

I just wanted to avoid buying an implement that would end as yard art.

Now I have a good excuse to get one.
