Midwest box blades.

Last week, I bought a BB20-72 box blade from Corriher Tractor & Implements in Newton, NC. These are labeled as Corriher Implement, but looking at the specs and the photos, I believe they are made by Midwest.

I used it for the first time yesterday. Keep in mind that here in New England, our major crop is rocks /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif, but I have already broken off two of the Scarifier Tips. I know that they are replaceable, but I was disappointed that they came off so easily. Has anyone else experienced this?

Otherwise, I am very impressed with the design, especially the attach points for the 3-pt. And I was also impressed with Corriher Tractor & Implements. I spotted the blade on Ebay. The price was good but they made the deal on shipping charges. I had priced some implements through one of TBN's advertisers, but despite an excellent quote from them, the shipping cost to ME was a deal killer. Corriher had to have eaten some of the shipping costs, but that made the deal for me. I will definitely try to send more of my business their way.

I have exactly the same BB - got it through a KIOTI dealer north of Toronto - and, while no teeth have brokem off, I did notice after about the first 30 minutes of use that one tooth is badly chipped with about 25% of the tip broken off at the corner.

I put it down to operator error but, maybe not ??? I am very pleased with the quality and robust construction of the unit and have done a few more hours work with it since then with no further tooth chipping.

When you say the teeth were broken off...we're they just pulled from the shanks, or was the shank damaged?? How big were the rocks??

I am also very impressed with the robustness of the box blade, but maybe that's why I was surprised to see the teeth break off from the shank so quickly. As for the rocks... most are basketball size or smaller. But I am sure that I have hit a couple of immoveable rocks.

I think I will buy some replacement teeth and take the entire unit to a welder and have all the teeth reinforced.

Well...I have one on the way....Thanks for the lead. Its kind of weird when I can buy something that far away and save big bucks. Locally I was quoted $ 125 more for a King Kutter re-label and $ 225 more for a LandPride 25 series and a Woods. That extra $$ doesn't include tax. I do like the idea of keeping the business local but ....

I have similar ground by the sounds of it, although most of my fields were worked for years, and recently ( past 3-5 years ) they were dozed and cleared. I don't think many of my rocks are too tight, and the big ones are pretty obvious. They're the ones the dozer didn't bother trying to bury !!!

I mostly want the box blade for the driveway ( 1200 ' ) of crusher run gravel that needs a haircut every few months.

I'm in Limington, about 25 west of Portland .... between Cornish and Standish. Limington is about 3000 people and very quiet.

After ordering a box blade from Corriher Implement, I anxiosly awaited and email to indicate the status of my order. Here is what I got...

Sorry I didn’t give you an update, but your equipment was sent out yesterday. We had a small problem in that we were out of the 20-72 series, so I substituted the 30-72 at no additional charge. As you may know, it is a heavier duty model... . If there is a problem with this substitution, please let me know and we can swap for a 20-72 in about 10 days.

I suggested that they should be advertising here. It sounded like they were going to look into it.

I contacted them about units in, um, a <font color="green"> color </font> they don't advertise. The speedy response was that they could get them in , um, that <font color="green"> color </font>, delivered to me in two week from time of order...

Guess I'm not the only one ordering green from a New Holland dealer!
Spent last Friday calling all over trying to find a distributor closer to GA with no luck. Carter and Carter doesn't stock the small ones, V&V though helpful, doesn't ship, and the various Kioti dealers have the wrong color! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif Finally I gave up and called Midwest, and even got the famous JimMC on the line who suggested I try Corriher Implement.

Lowest price ($290 for 48" 20 series), right color (green), and only $50 shipping to the hub 15 miles from me! And to think I almost gave up and bought another Howse.

I can tell you this, these guys will be getting an order a month from me for about the next 4 months...let me see...grader blade, landscape rake, aerator, rotary cutter...yep, 4 months!
