Looking at a used Miller Econotig 150

Comes with bottle regulator/torch and cart

how much should this go for?

Seller is asking $1500 Canadian currency

Is this a good machine? Have a 230v mig and 225 ac/dc stick already

Thanks

To much $$

THe Econotig wasnt the best machine miller ever made.

Currently the Diversion165 is on sale for $1369. Add 150 for the bottle and about the same for the foot control. Its a better machine. Or even better is to step up to the 180.

Just to give an idea of current prices.

The Econo for say $750, yes.. but 1500 in the light of whats available now is way too much.

Also the Econo Tig will not weld thin sheet metal.... bottom end is about 35 amps.... I've used one that a friend owned and it sucked. Of course it also won't do anything over about 1/4".... pretty much useless if it can't weld thin sheet OR anything over 1/4....

As the other guys said...... NOT the best machine Miller ever built by a long shot

Ahh:thumbsup:

Thats about right for the 180. KMS tools out west for $1900 +~80 shipping.

Another option at the 2000+ price might be a used Dynasty200. The Dynasty is a "Pro" level machine. Very good too.

Interesting, I've got the econotig and have found it to be a very good machine. As far as welding thin sheet steel I'm wondering if you're TIGing or Stick welding? I've TIGed sheet steel and haven't had a problem. I wouldn't even try TIGing anything over 1/4" and have welded over 1/2" without any problems either. As far as pricing I agree that $1500 is a bit much for a used machine.

Good luck.

i bought a used econotig for $900 last year. that price also included a customer owned (no neck stamp) 60cf argon bottle and some misc. leftovers that probably came with the machine when new. miller was still selling them until sometime in the last year or so, and they were only $1500-$1800 or so when new.

they certainly aren't the most robust or precise machine, but for the weekend warrior it can be a cheap way to get a little feel for it. if i remember it's like 165a ac and 135a dc, but that should suffice for most needs. there is also no adjustment for fine tuning the tig performance, and as was mentioned, the low end power range won't let you weld beer cans back together, but there's still plenty you can do with it. you get ac & dc tig, and ac and dc stick in one package.
