A place up the road here sells these minis. They are 10-20 years old, 12,000-50,000 miles. Mitsubishi, Subaru, Honda and Daihatsu are the common brands. All are 4x4, 3 cyl, some have low range, some a "creeper first" instead of a low range. They start at $4,800 regardless of mileage, and go up to $6,800. The more expensive ones may have a dump bed and bigger tires. Parts are available from Japan. Some common ones ie brakes, plugs, filters can be found locally.
The Fed is allowing them to be imported for "off road" use only. However many states (26 now I believe) are allowing them to be titled though they don't meet applicable federal regulations. Naturely they wouldn't meet any emission or crash standards. I wonder what NHTSA's "ruling" will be as far as on road use?
