Greetings
I purchased a small backhoe, no manufactuers tag, Has a 5 horse Brigs and a 3 gal per min pump. Problem is that it has been sitting outside for a couple years not being used and the spool valves are very sticky which does no allow for any smooth movements. Is there a way of flushing the valve assembly of do I need to take each valve apart and clean it some how? It is a 6 spool gag assembly.

Thanks

Vern

Check the hyd fluid. Does it look milky? I would look for any rust on the spool. Put some hyd oil on the spool stem and work it to loosen. and if still does not meet your satisfaction, then you can take the spools out one at a time and clean. Watching some of the build-it-yourself BH, the flow is to fast and needs to be reduced for smooth operation. You could reduce engine rpm also. You could also install orifice's in particular circuits.

J. J. Thanks for the tips, the oil is milky in the hoses but changes fairly quickly to good oil. I add some Sea Foam to clean the circuit, and then will change the oil and filter. Do you elaborate on the orfices, what are they? and do they go on both sides of the cylinder?

Thanks

Vern
