Hello,

I've been a reader of this site for a while, I got a lot of great ideas from it but I have a few questions on an out building I built.

unnamed.jpg

Should there be something covering the track for the doors? If so, what? Also, what methods are there for securing the doors from lifting up from the bottom? The trim on one door overlaps the other by 1" so when they are closed they move as one door, I put a slide bolt lock from the outside door into the door frame to keep the whole door assembly from sliding at one when it's locked but I can grab the bottom of the doors and lift them up if I wanted to, not sure what my options are.

Any other advice would be greatly appreciated.

This was my first building of this nature so be kind :D (yes I know i still have to finish soffit covers)

Pole barn metal suppliers have standard trim which includes a track cover. You should be able to get that from anyplace that supplies metal siding and roofing. There are two ways I am aware of to keep the doors from swinging out. One is a "Z" bracket that mounts to the building below the edge of the door. The other is a stake with a roller that is embedded in the ground at the edge of the door.

My similar rails have been up and uncovered for 4 years with no issues. I thought about just framing a 1x board over it but don't think it's necessary. However, birds nest on top of it in the spring but without issue.

As far as door swing goes: I used a hasp attached to the building with the lock ring on the edge of the door. I have high winds on my hill and they hold just fine.

Good to know, I am probably going to let it stay open this year since fall is coming fast and I need to get ready for bow season :D

Anyone have a picture of these door-swing prevention systems? I can't really visualize it.
