Mini brush cutter

I have a Bobcat 553 skid steer, wanting to build a brush cutter if possible.The bad side is I only have 2000lbs aux pressure at 8.5 gpm. I have 2 options 1) is to build it with PTO and hyd. motor the motor I picked is Dynamic BMRS50H4KS but only figures 10 hp, my other option is to build a cutter like a Swisher rough cut mower with a hyd motor with a pulley driving a spindle an shaft with blade. Any advice would be great

The hydraulic horsepower calculator tells me that 2000 PSI at 8.5 gpm=9.9 HP. The rule of thumb for rough cutters is 5 hp per foot. That's probably conservative, especially on the small end as the power required isn't really a linear relationship with the diameter of the cutter. But you probably want something that's at least wide enough to cover the width of the wheels, and 10HP isn't going to do that, there's no way around it.

That sounds awfully low for a skid steer. No way to get more juice?

That is why I was thinking of making it like the pull behind swisher rough cut, It has a 10.5 B&S motor which I could use a hyd motor in place of a gas and run with a belt like the swisher, The hyd motor I listed above is roughly 10hp

I just looked at the Amazon page for the 10HP Swisher. It's got a 44" deck, the reviewers say it's more of a lawn mower than a brush cutter. But that's around the size I would expect to be able to cut with 10HP. I think you're going to find you want something at least as wide as your wheels.

I think your best bet would be to get the smallest rotary mower you can find and try to adapt it.
