mini hay balers

   / mini hay balers #21
In case anyone is still looking at these old post...I bought a Star mini-round baler in spring of 07. I bale 7-10 acres right now with potential to go to 25 acres. The Star will bale dry as well as wet. I did both using a Star mini-bale wrapper. I would never go back to a square baler. The main reason I chose small round bales is because I don't have or can't afford all the "big" equipment to go bigger. I can cut, rake, bale, and wrap all with a 33HP tractor. A secondary reason is because I bale wet and a 1200lb balage bale starts heating pretty bad before my 4-6 cows finish it. With mini-bales, I can feed one a day without problems. If anyone wants to see the equipment, go to tractorconnection.com. They had the best prices I could find on the west coast.

Z you are thinking it all wrong ;) talk to the farmers / show people at the fares in your area. many will be in need of alfalfa you may be able to get a good deal skipping the middle man. and you get to write off all expenses of the fare as business ;)
