Well I was in the woods today and cut up a lot trees, 4 large piles with about 1 (I think) cord in each pile, since I have to take them down a lane I didn't want to skid them or tear up my trails. they are in about 6-8 foot length.
So I knew I needed to use a trailer, by way I have this little trailer in the back, ......hmmm log trailer??
So thought up something quick I could use, bolt on as I use this trailer to haul fence panels etc. So I began with posts that were from the county, (stop-sign) in no time I cut and drilled and even welded the nuts on. I think it turned out pretty good and all in about 3 hours
I began a trip with the gator since the skid-steer and grapple was in the woods and could load with that. (I'm going to pull this trailer in the future with the tractor to load and unload, it will be easier)
those cherry trees were quite heavy so I didn't want to get up to the wood piles and not be able to unload them with the tractor. It held up good, until I was unloading the last cherry and it shifted and slid against the upright post and broke it off.
I think I'm going to stick with this design now, fix it up and going to try out more tomorrow! If it keeps failing I have some nice 3 1/2 square tubing I'll make it out of. I really can put a lot of woods on this as I have had two 3,000 pounds skids of seed on this before.
