Yanmar 1720D
Greetings!
The three point hitch on my Yanmar 1720D has never worked right. I've finally decided I need to solve the problem because I have a bunch of posts I need to put in. It goes up okay, particularly when it's cold and before I pick up the loader. It even comes down most of the time in those conditions. But as soon as I pick up the loader and/or it gets warmed up, it won't come down on command. Eventually, it will seep down, but in a very unpredictable way. So I went through all the diagnostics on the Hoye Tractor website (excellent resource!), and got down to the "Up but won't come down" section. It starts with the shutoff valve. As soon as I removed that, the arms came down, no pressure necessary. However, according to the website, there was supposed to be a little loose piece inside at the bottom in the recess, part of the valve from what I understand, that was supposed to pop out when I took that off. There was nothing in there. There was no shooting oil, so no blockage apparently, but that little piece is missing. I'm suspecting that the dealer that did the original U.S. service on it lost it and never replaced it, since I've always had this problem. Would that missing piece be the most likely culprit? The next step is the whole control valve, and I really don't think there's anything wrong with that. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

Not sure that I understand the issue - are you saying that , with no 3 pt attachment hooked up, the 3 pt arms don't go down by themselves?

If so, that is how they are supposed to work; there is no down pressure. I have to push mine down.

Maybe I'm missing something.

ah er, seem both posters here have the same problem. :)

What Yanmar model is your machine?

So it would be #13 that's missing, and the washing #20. Same question, could that be the cause of my symptoms?
HC,
I would significantly say yes. Missing parts can mean missing function. The parts are big enough to matter.

Let the search begin!

Got a few direct hits on both.
Yanmar used it on the Cub Cadet models too. EX3200

I have a MF1540; previous tractor was a Kubota B7500. Neither had this "down" function on the 3 pt. That's why I was wondering about it.

The three point arms won't go down, period, once the tractor is warmed up or I've lifted my loader, regardless of whether there's an implement on it or not, at least not consistently. It stays up, but eventually drifts down again if my lever is in the down position. If I close and then open the shutoff valve, sometimes that releases it and it comes down, sometimes not. If I DON'T lift my loader, it will go up and down a few times until the oil is warmed up, then I have the same problem anyway. But can't really go anywhere if my loader is down. I'm pretty sure the problem is those missing parts, which I now have a part number for and am searching to buy. Just wondering if anyone else had this problem and confirm the function of the parts based on the diagnostics.
