I've had my BX23 since March. Normally I pull it into the garage with the left side facing a wall. The last time I was out I backed it in, for no particular reason. As I am working around the garage on Saturday, I notice that the front wheel on the left only has 3 bolts instead of 4. I didn't normally see this wheel because it was facing the wall. Luckily the insides of the wheels haven't gotten that dirty yet. Looking closer at the hole in the wheel, it still has the orange paint around it. I am pretty sure it never had a wheel bolt in it. My dealer is over 100 miles away. Talked to them this morning and they are sending one out to me. Shortly after I got the BX23, I discovered one of those hairpin type clips missing from the pin through one of the backhoe controls. It didn't take long for the pin to work its way back and let the handle come loose. The dealer sent me the clip for that too. I am going to have to make a closer inspection of this tractor when I get time to make sure nothing else is missing or ready to fall off. As a general heads-up to those of you with new tractors, check your wheel bolts to make sure you have them all and that they are tightened properly.

There is a retorque spec in the manual for the wheels. I think 10 hours and 100 ft-lbs but I would check. I haven't done it yet (22h) because the dealer is coming out (70 miles away) to install, block heater, rear work light, that snazzy silver "BX" grill I had him locate to replace the simple orange one and place the proper Quick Connects on the fel as they had to improvise when they got it out to me in a rush....and he mentioned retorquing when he gets here. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

For the first 100 hours or so you need to retorque the lug nuts and the bolts that hold the hub to the axles every 20 hours or less.

First time I re-torqued the lug nuts I found that one of the studs was turning in a rear hub and could not be tightened properly. Kubota replaced the hub under warranty.

At 116 hours on my B7510 I still find that the hub/axle bolts work loose just a little bit every 10 hours or so. They seem to be getting better but I keep checking them and retightening regularly, especially when I hear a distinctive squeak from one of the rear wheels.

BTW, I learned a long time ago to carry an assortment of clips and pins on the tractor. Clearing woods tends to cause a lot of them to be pulled off. I glance at all of the pins and clips regularly to see if any are missing.

Tractors and not like autos due to the the abuse they get. Things are going to work loose, pins fall off, etc., that's just part of the game.
