I have a 2500D that is overheating when I use the PTO. I have replaced the oilin the implement, oil in the 2500D, flushed the radiator, changed the hydrolic fluid and now have no idea what to do next.

Please help

Not familiar with the 2500D, how much HP and what are you doing? What makes you think that the engine is overheating?

its a 30hp tractor. I am using a 5ft brush hog on it, which I have used for years with it. The tempature guage is sky rocketing after about 10 min of use. It will cool down if I turn the PTO off.

Good, you are within the 5 HP per foot rule.

Check the easiest things first:
Bad temp gauge giving a false reading, check temp with another thermometer in the radiator or with a IR temp gun.
Oil in the coolant or coolant in the crankcase oil.....blown head gasket.
Are the radiators fins clean of seed, chaff? Look deep into the radiator.
T-stat working? With the engine running and warmed up you should see coolant circulate with the radiator cap off as the T-stat opens and closes.
The lower radiator hose should have a spring built into it. The spring keeps the hose from collapsing and chocking off the coolant flow.
Bad/worn out pump.

check the wire and connection going to the temperature sending unit/sensor.run it without thermostat and c if there is a difference.if it runs cooler a possible clogged radiator/coolant passage/def thermostat.

What rpm's are you running? Friend of mine complained about his tractor overheating and he was bush hogging some heavy stuff at about half speed.

Good point, the PTO should be turning 540 RPM and that translates to 2,000 2,200 RPM for the engine.

I had trouble with the small screen in front of radiator filling up with fine particles you have to take it out clean it. I only use the first and second positions on PTO to bush hog. good luck rt

I've got a 2600 d with the same problem. I wonder if the battery and the air cleaner box, being located in front of the radiator, would have anything to do with the over heating?
