Yanmar F18D and Mitsubishi D1550FD
My Mitsubishi D1550FD has just started jumping out of gear - or more precisely the two-wheel drive/four-wheel drive selector jumps out and leaves the tractor immobile.

There is obviously something wrong in the 'transfer case' How difficult is it to repair this sort of fault? What parts am I likely to require?

It could be as minor as a broken spring.

Thanks for that. Will have to pull it apart to check.

What part does the 'sensor' with the electrical connection play. i.e. the one at the base of the two-wheel/four-wheel drive selector shaft?

Leonard refers to a spring that pops a ball into a dedent position on the shifter shaft.

Does anyone have a plan/drawing of this part of the tractor please?

Try Valley Power . Click on parts, scroll down to S-470 , transmission gears. Good source. Give them a call if you don't see what you need.

Have located the problem. The 2wd/4wd shaft entering the gear box has a teardrop shaped plate welded to it. This shape is down into the gearbox and has a pin pointing into the gears. As the lever rolls the shaft the plate moves the pin backwards and forwards which moves the appropriate gear to engage either 2wd or 4wd.

The bottom of this tear drop shaped plate has the pin welded into it. Looking down in to the gearbox the pin was NOT at right angles to the case which I assume it should be. As a result the movement of the pin was insufficient to move the gear to full engagement.

With a bit of persuasion the pin was returned to square - it was the plate that was slightly twisted not the pin. The weld and the pin were perfect and once we returned the plate to parallel to the casing the gears engaged correctly.

Have spent two hours slashing today without any problem. So lets hope no one forces the selector again.
