Mitsubishi mt1401D for next to nothing, worth it?

Hi all, so I've been on marketplace and have found this, now it's obviously a rustbucket,but I'm just looking for a fun project to restore/get running. The owners said the engine has seized, and that's about it. Imo it looks decent (ish) the only part that really concerns me is the rust near what looks to be the gearbox, is this actually the gearbox or moreso a cover?. The engine is less concerning, as a seizure is a fun repair (in my experience). But how are the parts for these little Mitsubishi's? I've looked online but I haven't seen much for where I am.

Overall it seems decent, except for the rust near the "gearbox" and the lack of parts. But anyone that has experience know what that panel actually covers?

(As for price, let's just say driving 30 minutes there and back is going to cost more than the actual tractor lol)

Ive had a few of the 1401-d machines when they run they are a good little tractor, however parts might be a challenge for you.
If its free, why not?

For that price even if your not successful getting it working again it looks like there are lots of very good used parts that you could sell or find other uses for if your willing to mess with it.

Would you happen to know if that rusted out part in the first photo is the actual gearbox or a cover? Since I can't find much info anywhere

Yes, it is the gear box.
Has the owner told you what's wrong with it yet?
Also the front rims dont look all that great.

Well that certainly is a total turnoff, as I can imagine the entire gearbox is rusted.

As for the owner, he's apperantly away at work, so won't be able to talk much until next week,so I have to wait until then sadly

The picture you are looking at is not the gear box, its the gear box cover, the cover is what's rusty.
The gearbox is inside that cover...

Thankgod, I've messaged and asked some more about gearbox ect, as I'm competent with mechanical stuff, but absolutely suck at anything gearbox related
