Mitsubishi MT2501D
Hello All,

I am very green to the compact tractor world. I purchased an Mitsubishi MT2501D tractor that needed some work on it when i bought it. I plan to have the tractor operational in about 3-4 weeks. The previous owner run a 5ft tiller on this tractor. I am planning on buying a 5 foot tiller for this tractor, but my question is.
Will this little tractor pull a two bottom plow? Or should I go with say a 16" one bottom plow? The dirt in this area is very good black dirt,,,but can run into some clay, very little ,in some areas,,of this regions of the US.
Does having the 'coulters' on the plow help any in regards to pulling made easier?
I feel on plots that have not been plowed/tilled, previously, simply running the tiller across them may be too hard on the tiller,,even running the tractor in granny gear?
FYI: This tractor is rated at 25 hp pto,and engine is 30 hp and is 4WD.

thanks,
Barry

Barry, did you get the MT2501D running? I saw some youtube videos of this tractor pulling a 4 bottom smoothly and fairly quickly. I hope to have mine running soon. Maybe you have some tips?

I previously owned and operated a Kubota B3300SU: TractorData.com Kubota B3300SU tractor information

Specs similar to your MT2501D.

The B3300SU would break ground wirth a two bottom 12" plow in my sandy-loam but I believe any increase in plow size, say to a two bottom 14", would have stalled it out.

Old plows which were developed to fit the Ford 9N/2N/8N often have beams too long for later small tractors, interfering with tractor frames, so be cautious when shopping used Moldboard plows.

It thought any Cat 1 plow would fit my Cat 1 B3300SU. The Ford Series 101 plow fit the Three Point Hitch fine but the Ford plow beam hit the tractor.

Coulters help part grass if you are sod-busting. Without coulters tall grass may collect in front of the plow.

With or without coulters it is best to mow vegetation very short before plowing and/or kill grass with Roundup ten days before plowing. With short grass you can plow without coulters.

Roto-tillers are pretty tough. I would try the tiller solo before buying a plow. Game food plot seeds are strong germinators and seed is cheap. Food plots do not need garden type soil preparation.

For a home vegetable garden a roto-tiller is definitely preferable to a plow.
