Here is an idea I would like to share. I made the mixing bin today, haven't tried it out yet, but it seems so simple that it HAS to work! Anyway, have a look at Concrete Mixing Bin/Tub for Mini Excavator - YouTube

Theoretically this bin should accommodate a batch using at least 1 full bag of cement, or 2/5 cu/yd, assuming a 5 sack mix. Maybe more. The bin holds .8 cu yd level full.

I think many of us sometimes need a yard or 2 of concrete which is quite a bit to mix by hand, but a pile of money if you order from the ready mix company. They want an arm and a leg around here if you want less than a full truckload. Plus environmental fees, surcharges, and many taxes.

Please let me know what you think, I have a mini ex and a tractor with forks, but I think a TLB would get it done as well.

I would think unless very careful the mini's bucket would tear that box apart

I should clarify - I don't intend to carry the box with the mini when it is full of concrete. Pretty sure you are right - that would tear the box apart

The intention is to spoon the concrete out of the box with the mini to wherever it needs to be placed.

Concrete can stick to a painted seurface in ways that I can't even believe! I have yet to figure a way to remove such deposits from a couple of machines..

Yes it sure does, and never seems to completely disappear. I have found that an ordinary air hammer (such as Air Impact Hammer Kit ) is somewhat helpful to get it off.

I have a fairly sturdy electric powered cement mixer, and have thought a couple times about adapting it in place of the hoe bucket on my Case - figured I could position the hoe so I could swing it over to a mix area, load it up, let it mix, then climb on the hoe and swing it over the pour - curl the bucket to dump, repeat as necessary -

But the more I thought about it, the more I realized how much I HATE concrete work and how hard I'll work to either forget it or make it big enough to justify hiring it done

Still woulda been a fun project, but I'm already about 299 behind ...Steve
