4 yrold belt went on my 60in mmm side discharge. I changed it once the first year being too **** and it was awkward. I dont recall how I did it but afterwards someone posted an easier way and I cant remember. Anyone have any tips? Pull the gear box straight up?

If it's a 914 , just take the top shields off, that cover the pulleys. Several nuts. Renove the belt tensioner. Remove a lower section of the gear box base ( the side that the belt is on) Replace belt . Reverse order .

found belt path label under pulley cover. Failure of belt was a hold down bolt to the gear box that is threaded into deck broke a weld under deck and gearbox moved and belt caught an edge somewhere. the bolt thread is like a car interior CLIP that has the threads in it. that little sucker rusted and weld went weak. Only found it after hoisting deck and powerwashing underside. welded it back on aand awaiting new belt.

Just a note to all. I love my 914A MMM, but like all work horses, you just have to keep it fed and watered. I lube it every 25 operating hours, replace the blades with newly sharpened ones twice during the mowing season, and I always WD-40 the bolts and threads of the hold down covers, Gear Box, etc. This baby takes a lot of water rides and just doesn't get as clean after each mowing as it should. After a lickin' it just keeps on tickin'. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Boomerboy especially this year with all the rain that we have been getting hit with here in NE Ohio eh? /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif I gotta wonder when it will ever let up as I have been mowing in the rain this summer more than once myself.
